After I found out I had two days off in a row, Nathan and I decided to start hunting for apartments in Oakland. There were some really magical spots, mixed in with some sketchy neighborhoods. We found our dream location though, an apartment building just tucked in behind Lake Merritt, with a gorgeous park with a trail leading down to the lake. It seemed like it was out of a fairy tale. also, there was this little driveway next to the complex that reminded me of Placerville:
After a day of driving around aimlessly and wondrously, we finally made it into the Top of the Mark. Here was the view out the window we dined next to:
This week was a screening of the Wizard of Oz. They had a brand of red wine and white wine to sample (freely), but my crude taste buds could only tell they were good wines because of how expensive they were. All wine is delicious to me, $2 or $20, it's all the same.
We also snuck in some Mad Dog, but don't judge us. Sometimes you need a bit of trash mixed in with your class.
We vowed not to buy anything once we were inside, but instead bought the two most reasonably priced things on the menu: a "light and stormy" cocktail made up of 10 cane rum and ginger beer, and dark chocolate covered popcorn with jalapenos and about 5 other ingredients I can't remember.
It was pleasant watching a magical movie in a swanky restaurant, surrounded by twenty-somethings who had the same idea as us.
